60th year, we are proud to release the redesign of our
website, featuring many cutting-edge enhancements such
as an improved business directory, an intuitive

We have also added more tools to help our members and
community alike, to easily access all the information
you need about business, government, living, working,
and traveling in the Goleta Valley.
Goleta Business License Study
Take our five minute survey - We want your feedback.
The City of Goleta is in the early stages of studying the feasibility of a modern business license program and has asked the Chamber for input from our members. City officials have indicated that the program would be useful for accurate data collection, code enforcement, and as an untapped source of revenue. Click here to view the informative slideshow presented to the Chamber by the City at our Issue and Policy Roundtable on April 24th including potential revenue figures and comparisons with programs in other local cities. If initiated, the Chamber believes a major portion of the earned revenue should go towards economic development in the city.
We appreciate the City coming to the Chamber at the beginning of this process and we encourage all of our members to participate in our brief survey. Your feedback is valuable as the City considers this program. Click here to take the survey. Please respond by Wednesday, May 14th so city staff can incorporate your feedback in their report to the Council.

2008 Annual Meeting
 |
The Goleta Valley Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Membership Meeting on Friday, February 29th. In a wonderful show of success, nearly 150 Chamber members and supporters attended the 2008 luncheon.

Last year the GVCoC expanded its board, bringing the total to nearly 30. The GVCoC is always sad to see term limits reached and lose board members, and unfortunately this year we lost four: Jane Brown, Tammy Dobrotin, Mark Ingalls, and Tim Mahoney. We would like to thank them for their devoted work to the Chamber.
Fortunately, each time we lose a board member there is a community leader ready to take their place. This year we are pleased to introduce our four new members: Theresa Huerta, Raytheon; Earl McCutcheon, ATK Space Systems; Laura McCormick, Citrix Online; and Joe Salcedo, Pivot Independent Financial. This Board represents all aspects of the business community including but not limited to: industrial manufacturing, retail, finance, service, non-profit, education, healthcare, utilities, lodging, and restaurants.
The Chamber would also like tothank the 2007 out-going Chairman Bill Macfadyen, of Noozhawk.com, for all of his excellent work; and welcome our newly appointed 2008 Chairman Jim Knight.
The 2008 Goleta Magazine was unveiled during the Annual Meeting by Grayson Peters, Communications Director, which received a warm response from those who attended. With a new feel in 2008, this valuable tool is available at the Chamber.
Also, special thanks to our sponsors for the 2008 Annual Meeting! |
